Lessons Learned From Being An Financial Advisor For 15 Years

"You say it's your birthday. It's my birthday too, yeah. They say it's your birthday. We're gonna have a good time!" — The Beatles

It’s that time of year again. My Birthday/Merino Wealth’s Second Annual Referral Month. All month long we’ll be celebrating the good work we do, the trust that our clients put in us, and the fact that I’m another year older and wiser.

Just like a lot of you my birthday can lead me to think about the past. I’ve been an advisor for 15 years (crazy, right!?) and I’ve learned a lot of lessons:

1. Financial Planning is about helping you to reach YOUR financial possibilities. Your money is a tool to achieve the things that are important to you, no one else.

2. There’s no stupid question. Finances can be confusing and overwhelming. Many clients use us to help cut through the noise so that they can feel more comfortable and confident about their decisions.

3. A professional opinion can help you make sense of things. Without a real plan, it’s easy to find yourself making decisions in a silo. Before long this can lead to some big dollars and a feeling that you don’t know what’s going on. Consolidation and education can go a long way.

4. Not all Financial Advisors are created equal. Services can vary from firm to firm, so it’s important to hire someone who may maximize your financial potential. In fact, we regularly take on clients who have an advisor or are interviewing advisors and they choose Merino Wealth.

5. Taking the first step can be the hardest, but is often the most rewarding. It could be one of the best decisions you’ve ever made.

Do you know someone that you think we can help? Maybe they’re a good saver, but don’t seem to have a plan in place like you do? Or maybe they’ve just asked the question “what does your advisor do for you?” Help celebrate my birthday with the gift of a referral to awesome new Merino Wealth client CLICK HERE to put us in touch.
