Over the last few weeks, I’ve been trying to make sense of what’s happening in our country. When I see a problem my brain typically tries to find a logical solution. In this case, I can’t. I can’t make sense of what has happened. And I definitely don’t have a solution to our country’s system of unequal justice.
I’m far from perfect, but I am going to try to do better. As I always say "your money can be a tool to achieve the things that YOU want." At Merino Wealth we plan to do just that:
In the coming months, our firm will be making donations to organizations that focus on creating a more just and equitable world. This is one small thing we can do to drive change.
I also commit to devoting additional company resources to further our education on racial inequities so we can become a more inclusive company. We know that racism has impacted Black wealth for centuries. We want to do as much as we can as a company to end this cycle.
We will also work to use Black-owned businesses as vendors to support our day to day operations. Our corporate spending is a privilege that we have and we intend to vote with these dollars.
We will further our efforts towards utilizing socially responsible investments with a focus on diversity and inclusion. This will allow all of our clients to use their money as a tool to promote change.
As a company, we want to do better. We know that this is a difficult time for our city and throughout the entire country. We welcome your suggestions if you have any. As a community, we are hurting and we are here to help.
